glasshouseby Jennifer Lagier

A yellow pouf tree guards the greenhouse
where red and orange fantasy flowers float
in stasis just beneath a glass ceiling.

Blue flutes erupt from flower beds.
Cobalt stalks and curlicue arms
mutely invoke animation and sunshine.

Don’t throw stones, I tell myself,
artful whimsy is unique, fragile.
Appreciate genius. Observe without touching.
