James Devlin — Alternate Take Number 5

After studying and working in Film & Television, James Devlin began to paint in 2014. It was in that year that Devlin spent 3 months in New York City, an experience that has inspired most of his work to date. Devlin has exhibited across Ireland, including a solo exhibition in Dublin City, and most recently in Amityville, New York. Devlin’s brand of self-taught primitivism and abstract art clashes chaos with order, drawing from a minimalist colour palette to create a style that’s bold, edgy and unique. Themes and subject matter range from sex and death to humour and bodily distortions, and are influenced primarily by music. This piece is from a collection titled URBAN RENAISSANCE.
